A Little Bit About Me:
I grew up in Waukegan, IL and have lived nearby ever since – but fortunately have had the opportunity to travel all over the world in missions.. I enjoy cycling (ok – that might be an understatement!), the outdoors, traveling, softball, capoeira, swimming, the beach and coffee/tea with friends – to name a few! I’m often described as joyful; and compassion is a gift I’ve been blessed with – sometimes this comes with its pains as well! In December 2004, I achieved my BA degree in Christian Ministries: Intercultural Ministries and Biblical Studies at Trinity International University. I’ve been attending my home church, Christ Community Church in Zion, IL (www.ccczion.org), since 2000. I have been blessed beyond comprehension by all of my family and friends who have been supportive of my involvement in missions and have served as encouragers, supporters and mentors along the way!
My Calling:
I heard the hymn Here I Am Lord? as a small child, and the words captured me: “Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.” I remember thinking, “Could that possibly be me?, I want to go!”
And – that’s been my calling ever since – to go – with the Lords leading.
But go where? And who’s Lord? What’s this guy so serious about? I knew next to nothing about the Gospel message at that point of my life.
10 years later – I found out. I was to go into the world and love God and people (Matt 22:37-39). It took many years, but I finally was taught about the One who intricately designed me and purposed us for a very specific work.
So here I am, an ordinary woman on a journey, like everybody else in the world. My journey started in my last year of high school and since then has brought me into a love for other cultures, for the Spanish language, to my home church, to Trinity International University to achieve a BA degree, to an Indian Reservation, Guatemala, South Africa, Indonesia, to mission training in the beautiful state of Colorado and into a position with Mission Impact as a Servant Team Field Coordinator in Guatemala. There are many years of my life, filled with numerous choices, summed up in one paragraph. Lot’s of excitement – but one critical choice - to live for Christ.
My calling for the rest of my short life is to love people enough to share the message of Jesus Christ with them. Although I might never wrap my brain around ‘forever / eternity’; I think I’ve gained a better idea of the shortness of life, how quickly it passes, and how suddenly for so many!
Therefore, I don’t want to waste any time – people need to hear in order to make a choice and I want to always be available to be used by God accordingly! ......I consider that our calling, to go.
