A Little Bit About Me:

I came from Texas to the mission field in Guatemala in 1996. I brought with me fourteen years of orthopedic pediatric nursing experience gained at Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston. God had been preparing me, for His work here, many years before I became a Christian

I was drawn to this specialty because of a nephew, Andy Griffith, who had muscular dystrophy. He died at age nineteen. I couldn't help him but I wanted to help other children with disabilities. Little did I know where God would take that desire.

Andy's life seemed short and full of senseless suffering. God used that short life to bring help to the disabled in a Mayan village, situated high on the side of a volcano, named Santa Maria de Jesus. It was heart wrenching to see a child with spina bifida and unable to walk, pulling herself through the dirt by use of her arms. It was worse when I saw an elderly lady who had been doing the same for all her life. That could have been my mother!

I found the children with disabilities were not allowed in public school. In 2000 I founded New Life or in Spanish Nueva Vida, a licensed special education school. I love the children and being able to provide them with a safe loving place to learn. I encourage you not to be afraid of what God might do if you give Him control of your life. Only God knows for what purpose He made you, and when you find that purpose you will never be happier.

My Calling:

God has led me to bring the love of Jesus Christ to Santa Maria de Jesus. To bring change to a village burdened with poverty, malnutrition and violence through the education of its children. My goal is to help with the needs of the disabled of all ages. Money and transportation are provided for such needs as: doctors appointments, x-rays, CAT scans, surgery and wheelchairs.
