A Little Bit About Us:
We were married in 1986 and began attending church together a few months before that time. In 1992 Hugo began serving fulltime in the church as a deacon, counselor, and Bible class instructor in the church school while Gilma tended to our children’s needs. In 1995 we worked together with the Hebrew Dance Group and Worship Team. In 1997 our family moved to Casa Barnabe Orphanage in Guatemala City to serve full time caring for the children there for 8 years. In 2004 our family traveled to Chichicastenango in Western Guatemala to serve in the Mayan culture. This work involved calling on street children and teenagers, providing an opportunity for them to hear the Gospel and join in workshops. We also have been working in our neighborhood, inviting children into our home for cooking, carving, and drawing classes that center on the Gospel.
Our Calling:
In 1995 there was a word of prophecy for us to call the children from the darkness into the light and that this would involve going into the streets, inviting these children into our home. This word emphasized the fact that there would be a chain of situations, our need to look to the Lord for sustenance, and all mountains or obstacles faced with Him would lead to growth.
We are thankful to continue walking in this call as the Lord has opened the door to work with Vida y Esperanza. Bible class, home economics, and counseling are the main focus of our work here. There is also an opportunity for fellowship with families in the Escuela de Madres (School for Mothers).
Praise God for:
- health for our children
- opportunity to continue in our calling as we minister as a couple
- part-time employment for Isle at Proximos Pasos Girls School
- education for all our children: University for Ilse & Rode, special education school for Andrea, and Escuela Vida y Esperanza for Dena and Noé
- Hugo and Rode’s opportunity to supplement our income with construction work
Please Pray for:
- dependable vehicle
- housing closer to Escuela Vida y Esperanza to accommodate our family as we stay for various afternoon meetings and workshops
